Khairat Foundation
Khairat Medical Foundation began in the year 2006. It was officially started by Dr. Mahfudh Muhammed, a native dweller of Kilifi county which is located in the coastal region of Kenya. KMF started as a small medical center in the midst of a poverty-stricken community. During this time, the community was in dire need of appropriate healthcare services. Dr. Mahfudh was therefore forced to start up a solution for the ever-growing demand. He began by providing quality healthcare services at heavily subsidized rates, in other cases, free. The center since then has struggled to meet the health demands of the community and mostly relies on donations from well-wishers’ or sponsors which are scarce.
In the year 2020 at the peak of CORONA PANDEMIC, there was a massive increase in the number of patients seeking subsidized medical care services. The majority of these people were the elderly and the less fortunate within Kilifi county and beyond. It was under these circumstances that KHAIRAT MEDICAL FOUNDATION became an urgent tool that would seek funds and resources to be able to provide much-needed healthcare and humanitarian assistance. Amongst other programs, the Foundation established a program dubbed “LINDA WAZEE” (PROTECT FOR THE ELDERLY) to assist older members of the community access free medical care at our hospital i.e. (KHAITAT MEDICAL CENTER) the program has yielded progress and to date, we are looking at over 500 registered elderly persons (65 years and beyond) to this program.
